A non governmental organization the Young Nigeria Voices, Abia State chapter has in the spirit of Ramadan, donated essential food items, including cartons of noodles to the Muslim faithfuls in Abia State to support them during this fasting period.
The gesture was warmly received by the Imam of the Central Mosque Eket Street Umuahia, Imam Aminu Lawan on behalf of the Muslim community in Abia State.
While receiving the food items on Friday 28th March, 2025 at the Central Mosque Umuahia, Imam Aminu Lawan thanked the Young Nigeria Voices for their support and show of kindness to the vulnerable group within the Muslim community, especially in this period of spiritual observance.
The Imam commended the group for their efforts to foster peace and unity between Christians and Muslims, calling on practitioners of the two religious faiths to always preach peace and love for one another in their respective churches and mosques for national unity and cohesion.
He advised the Nigerian masses not to make themselves available to the political elites who use them to create an atmosphere of political instability, but to ensure that they are united in love to help build a country where all the religions and tribes will co-exist in harmony.
Earlier, the Abia State coordinator of the group comrade Chinedu Ogwuegbu, said the Young Nigeria Voices is a pro-group powered by Hon Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, former minister of state for education, who is passionate about the well being of youths and the vulnerable members of the society.
He said that the group decided to identify with the Muslim faithfuls during this Ramadan period and to provide them with something they can use to break their fast.
The Abia State coordinator disclosed that the gesture is being carried out simultaneously in all the five south east states courtesy of Chief Emeka Nwajiuba, to ensure that there is something for the less privileged members of the Muslim community during this Ramadan period, adding that the programmes of the group will be unveiled soon.
NewsCritic online reports that the Young Nigeria Voices is a pro group of young Nigerians who are hopeful to take over political leadership and governance in Nigeria, which is skewed in favour of the old brigade.
